JBP is a Western Australian workplace consultancy founded by senior architects who spent years at GHD Woodhead. What does the software do?
It takes a client's brief for an office, how many people, how they work, what they need, and produces a workable layout. Then it prices the fit-out automatically. The design and the costing come out together, so a client can see both a plan and a price early, rather than waiting for each to be drawn up and quoted by hand.
Designing and pricing a fit-out is skilled work, and it is slow. Every project starts close to a blank page: measure the space, lay out the desks and meeting rooms, then cost the materials, furniture and trades line by line. A small expert firm can only produce so many of these at once, which limits how many opportunities it can chase and how fast it can respond to a keen client.
JBP's founders know this work intimately. They wanted to keep their design judgement at the centre while removing the slow, repeatable groundwork that comes before it, so they could serve more clients without lowering the standard.

What did we build?

In plain terms, the software does the first pass. It handles the repetitive, rules-based part of laying out a floor and adding up a fit-out, and it does it the same careful way every time. The architects then take that first pass and do what people do best: refine it, advise the client and shape the final result.
