What do you mean by custom development?
Software built specifically for your business, rather than bought off the shelf. It fits how you already work and connects to the systems you already run. Where a product would force you to change your process, custom software is shaped around it, so your team keeps working the way that already works for them.
Every business has a few jobs it does in its own particular way, often the jobs that make it good at what it does. Those are exactly the jobs a generic product handles badly. Custom development is for those: the specific, valuable, this-is-how-we-do-it work that no bought tool quite fits.
Why build custom instead of buying a product?
Because a product makes you fit it, and your business is not generic. Custom software fits your process, works with the old systems you cannot easily replace, and does the specific thing no product on the market does. You are not paying forever for features you will never use, or bending your business to someone else's idea of how it should run.
There is a place for off-the-shelf software, and we will tell you when it is the smarter buy. But when the thing you need is specific to you, building it is often cheaper over time and always a better fit.

Will it work with our old systems?
Yes, that is often the whole point. Plenty of good businesses run on systems that are decades old and cannot simply be thrown out. We build software that works alongside them, so you get something modern without having to rip out what still does its job.
Where does custom development make sense?

That is what we built for JBP Consultancy: software that designs office layouts and prices fit-outs automatically, made for exactly how they work.
It is not the only example. We built the online booking and scheduling system that lets PSG Plant Hire's customers book machinery around the clock, and the quoting and job scheduling behind Better Looking Shutters. All of it connects to the platforms these businesses already ran, MYOB, Xero and Microsoft 365 among them.

Who actually builds it?
The senior engineers who scope your project are the ones who build it. The people who understand your business are the people writing the software, from our Ardross office in Perth and on client sites across Australia.
Who owns the software?
You do. Everything we build belongs to the business we build it for, source and all. You are never renting your own tools or locked into us to keep them running.
What if we are not technical?
That is fine, and normal. We handle the technical side and keep the conversation in plain language, so you always understand what is being built and why.
What happens to our data?
Client data stays in your own systems and accounts. We build on OpenAI, Anthropic and Microsoft models under business terms, which means your data is not used to train public models. The full detail is on our security page.
