The front of a new single-storey display home in Perth

A prototype built at our workshop. A live platform for six offices, built in five weeks.

Stop Renting Group helps renters become first home owners, through offices in Perth, Bunbury, Albany, Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne. Their Managing Director built the first version of a buyer savings portal himself at our one-day AI workshop. We turned it into a full platform, connected it to their CRM, trained the team and launched it in September.

What does Stop Renting Group do?

They help people who are renting get into a home of their own. A buyer joins the program, sets a savings plan with a consultant, and works toward a deposit with coaching and broker check-ins along the way, then builds their first home.

The founders bring more than 30 years in the building industry between them. The hard part of their business is not the paperwork at the end. It is the year in the middle, where a buyer has to keep saving, fortnight after fortnight, while life gets in the way. Between check-ins, consultants could not easily see who was quietly falling behind, and keeping everyone moving took a lot of manual follow-up.

How did the platform start?

At our workshop. Jerome, the group's Managing Director, came to our one-day AI workshop and built the first version of a buyer savings portal himself, on the day. It showed exactly what the business wanted, which made the real build quick to scope.

What I've just been able to do should be able to help thousands of people get into their own home that have been told no before.

That prototype did its job. It proved the idea to the people who mattered and gave us a clear picture of what the finished platform had to do. Within a month the group had signed on for the full build, and five weeks after we started, it was live on their own web address.

What does the platform do for buyers?

It turns a year of saving into a fortnightly habit. Each buyer gets their own account showing their goal, what they have saved, and whether they are ahead or behind. If they slip, it shows the exact amount per fortnight that catches them up.

  • A short setup: why they are doing it, their goals for the quarter, and a photo board of the home they want
  • A dashboard with savings against goal, ahead or behind, the catch-up amount, what renting is costing them, and their streak
  • A fortnightly savings update that takes about a minute, prompted by a text message that morning and a reminder that evening if it has not been done
  • A calendar of the year ahead: 26 fortnightly check-ins, 12 coaching calls and 4 broker check-ins
  • A simple budget guide, the things to avoid while saving for a home loan, and a refer-a-friend page
It's all automated, it's all text reminders, all the client has to do is put in their fortnightly savings update.

What does the team see?

Every buyer, sorted by who needs help. The consultant dashboard groups buyers into on track, behind and gone quiet, and a strike system texts the consultant when someone misses fortnights in a row. Consultants only ever see their own buyers, and the group's admins see everyone.

Each buyer has a full page with their savings history, milestones and broker details. Consultants can clear a strike with a note, view the app exactly as the buyer sees it, and post announcements. Referrals are tracked by office, with a QR code and a public referral page for each one.

It all runs off the CRM the team already uses. Adding one tag to a contact creates the buyer's account and sends their welcome email within seconds. Contacts, consultant assignments and text messages run through it, and appointments sync both ways. Instead of chasing every buyer every fortnight, a consultant can make one monthly call with the buyer's tracker in front of them.

Where does AI fit in?

In how the platform was made and how the team works, not inside the app. Jerome's prototype was built with AI at our workshop, we used AI-assisted development to take the full platform from first build to launch in about five weeks, and the team now has an AI use policy and training to work from.

We say this plainly because it matters. The app does not use AI to judge anyone's finances, and buyer data is not sent to an outside AI service. A buyer's plan is set with a person, and a person stays involved the whole way. Once it was live we ran a 90-minute session with the team on the platform, along with guidance on using AI safely in their own day-to-day work.

Where is it up to?

Launched and rolling out. The platform went live in September, the team has been trained on it, and Adelaide is the first office bringing buyers on. We will add results here as buyers work through their first months.

A platform like this proves itself over a year, not a week, so we are not going to claim numbers it has not produced yet. What changes from day one is simple: every buyer knows where they stand each fortnight, and every consultant can see who needs a call.

Could this work for other businesses?

Yes. Any business that guides customers through a long process, brokers, coaches, training providers, financial services, has the same problem: customers drift between check-ins and the team finds out late. A platform that tracks progress and prompts both sides closes that gap.

It can start the way this one did, with the person who knows the business best building the first version at a workshop. There is more on both halves in custom development and corporate AI training.

Common questions

Does the Stop Renting Group platform use AI?

Not inside the app. No AI model makes decisions about buyers, and buyer data is not sent to an outside AI service. AI shaped how it was made: the first version was built at our AI workshop, and we used AI-assisted development to build and launch the full platform in about five weeks.

Is the platform giving financial advice?

No. Each buyer's savings plan is set with their consultant. The platform tracks progress against that plan, shows where things stand and prompts the buyer to keep going, and a person stays involved the whole way.

What happens if a buyer falls behind?

Their dashboard shows the catch-up amount per fortnight straight away. On the team side, the buyer moves into the behind group, and missed fortnights in a row send a text message to their consultant so they can step in early.

Who can see a buyer's information?

The buyer sees only their own account. Consultants see only the buyers assigned to them, which is enforced in the database itself, and the group's admins see everyone.
